This is the first Principle in the list because it is the most important factor, by far. After close study of the human body, I have come to believe that everything is about balance. If you are trying to achieve a balance in terms of fat mass, you need to find balance everywhere else, factoring in everything that has an effect.  Most often, people tend to think something along the lines of “Oh I want to balance my fat mass so I’ll just balance my calories. ” Epic fail ensues. Instead of trying to balance the calories (which the body will do on its own when everything is working properly),  you must balance your body as a whole. 1.) Intuitive Eating

Reason # 1 is intuitive eating. This is easily the most important factor in my mind. Eating buffet style makes intuitive eating extremely easy to do; why else would it be a common cultural practice all over the world? Before reading below get yourself up to speed reading                            CHIEFROK VS SUMO : ROUND 1 and ROUND 2

I do not have any experience training Sumo wrestlers, otherwise I would pinpoint the factors with 100 % certainty. I can only make observations that I feel strongly about in regards to their lifestyle from the point of view I have from my experiences. I have a great deal of respect for ancient knowledge in all of the cultures around the world because of the many truths I have found in my own culture and its ancient wisdom. Due to this, I don’t think their protocol is based on superstition but a science we as outsiders can not fully understand. (more…)

People often ask me something along the lines of: “Hey Chief, you skip breakfast and pig out. Sumo wrestlers skip breakfast and pig out. Why do they get fat but you don’t?”  That’s a very valid question. However, skipping breakfast and pigging out are where the similarities end my friends. The differences are what bring about a very different end result. In order to be clear, I eat “ breakfast,” I just don’t break my fast first thing upon waking up. My breakfast is usually the first course of my supper, ha ha! From my perspective, it’s obvious that there is no connection between automatic weight gain and skipping breakfast, but in order to understand where this idea came from, I Googled around a bit. Whoa, did I ever find a ton of sites that seemed to copy paste the same idea. The “no breakfast equals weight gain idea” is alive and well on the internet. Unfortunately all of the spokespeople were calorie counting/sweatin’ to the oldies type of trainers saying stuff like “Ladies, don’t eat like a sumo!” or “Hey girl, are you on the sumo diet? Food for thought: What’s on your plate?

Many people, in their quest to understand “What it is I do”  have asked me something along the lines of ” So, what does CHIEFROK eat ?” This is a very difficult question to answer, at least from the frame of reference most people are coming from. I think most people that ask me these sort of questions are either looking for some magic type of superfood, carb/fat ratios, daily amounts of protein etc. I’m guessing, in order to follow me exactly thinking they will get the same exact results. In reality these things shouldn’t be their primary focus. Many ask what kinds of things are they allowed to eat or not allowed to eat on “my diet”. I don’t think diets work so I never go on “diets”, instead I  (more…)
